New Delhi: In a first major overture after snapping diplomatic ties with India in August, the Pakistan government on Monday extended invitation to former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to be the guest of honour during the opening ceremony of Kartarpur Corridor. Pakistan’s foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi termed Dr Singh as the representative of Sikh community while inviting him to Kartarpur.
“The Kartarpur Corr-idor is an important project and its inauguration is an important function in which PM Imran Khan is taking personal interest. After consultation, Pakistan has decided to invite former PM of India Manmohan Singh, whom we hold in high regard, to the opening ceremony of Kartarpur Corridor,” said Mr Qureshi.
