After allowing Indian wheat trucks to Afghanistan via road, Pakistan’s foreign office has forwarded a proposal on behalf of the Pakistan Hindu Council (PHC) chief patron Ramesh Vankwani to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) asking that two chartered flights of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) carrying pilgrims be allowed to fly from Lahore and Karachi to destinations in India this Saturday.
Meanwhile, the MEA and Ministry of Civil Aviation has not responded to the proposal so far. Earlier, pilgrims used to visit each other’s countries either by road or via Samjhauta Express.
Vankwani, who is from Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehrik-e- Insaaf ( PTI) party, said he would lead a delegation of Pakistani pilgrims to India on January 29 on a special chartered flight of the Pakistan Airlines International (PIA).
