MUMBAI: Debt-ridden carrier Air India (AI) has issued a show-cause notice to one of its joint general managers who was wrongly paid a gross salary of Rs 2.8 crore in the past few years, during which he wasn’t working for AI.
The said joint general manager happens to the current chief flight operations inspector (CFOI) of the DGCA.
The CFOI was asked to explain why he didn’t inform AI about the salary receipts that he continued to receive from the airline though he was working for the DGCA.
In his response to the show-cause notice, the CFOI disputed the amount quoted by the airline. Air India was unaware that it was paying an official who was no longer working for the airline till TOI carried a report about it on January 11.
