MUMBAI: Airlines in India had begun vaccination drives for their employees in May and by now over 50 % of airline employees in India are most likely vaccinated with their first dose. This week then, airlines began operating flights with fully vaccinated crew, making air travel safer as a mode of transportation during the pandemic.
An AirAsiaIndia spokesperson said that 99.5 % of their “guest-facing operational staff including pilots, cabin crew, security, ground staff and catering operations staff have been inoculated with their first dose.” Air India, the first airline to begin an employee vaccination drive, said that around 11,500 employees have been vaccinated with the first dose.
