Chandigarh: Punjabis own more vehicles than Haryanavis but fewer of them are pragmatic enough to go for electric ones compared to their neighbours in the next state. As per the data submitted in Lok Sabha by Union minister of state for heavy industries Krishan Pal Gurjar, Punjab has over 1.24 crore total registered vehicles, out of which 14,804 are electric vehicles. Wheras neighbouring Haryana has 37,035 electric vehicles, out of its over 1.08 crore total registered vehicles.
UT Chandigarh has 2,812 electric vehicles, out of its over 7.49 lakh total registered vehicles, and Himachal Pradesh had registered as many as 1,175 electric vehicles out of over 19.65 lakh total vehicles.
