Opposition Congress and BJP members in the State Assembly on Thursday severely criticised the Government for the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission’s (OERC) decision to hike electricity tariff for household consumers from October 1.
Participating in an Adjournment Motion debate, they said the increased power tariff would put extra financial burden on families who have already been suffering due to Covid-19 pandemic and alleged that decision would favour corporate houses only. Initiating debate, BJP Chief Whip Mohan Charan Majhi alleged State government has failed to collect dues of 5,963 crore from four distribution companies.
