NEW DELHI: Pragya Thakur, BJP MP from Bhopal, allegedly delayed a SpiceJet Delhi-Bhopal flight she was travelling on Saturday by about an hour due to her refusal to change her emergency row seat to another one. Thakur, who was on a wheelchair, had booked seat 1A by paying extra for that. However, on Bombardier Q400 turboprop aircraft, which was to operate on this route, the front row is an emergency row.
Passengers unable to operate emergency exits due to any reasons are not allowed to sit on these seats and accordingly the airline requested Thakur to change her seat. The flight took off with a delay of 45 minutes when she finally agreed to shift to the second row. The airline said other passengers on the flight also requested the MP to change her seat as the flight was getting delayed and when she didn’t agree to that for some time, they even asked SpiceJet officials to offload her.
