New Delhi: The Public Works Department (PWD) has started repairing roads under its jurisdiction that were damaged by the seasonal rains. Initially, the potholes will be filled in and after the monsoon is over, extensive repair work will be undertaken.
In the last few weeks, the PWD control rooms have received numerous complaints from across the city about potholes and damaged roads. There are around 1,260km of roads under PWD. Following widespread grievances, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal called a high-level meeting on Friday and asked officials to make Delhi’s roads free of potholes by October 20. He asked officials to deploy maintenance vans in large numbers to cover every area during the special drive.
