NEW DELHI: The old main runway of the Delhi airport (28/10) – famous for its erstwhile viewing “jumbo point” on the Gurgaon E-way – will be closed for recarpeting soon after the G20 leaders’ summit concludes on September 10, for about 75 days.
The airport’s latest runway (29R-11L), which was commissioned on July 14 and is currently used only for take-offs, is expected to be ready to handle landings also by the end of this month.
When that happens and the other three runways see both arrivals and departures, the old main airstrip will be closed for repairs without IGIA’s flight handling capacity getting affected.
