PUNE: Air India’s 17-day-long fuel crisis at six airports ended on Saturday. Airline officials in Pune said operations were back to normal.
“The oil marketing companies have restored the supply to Air India’s aircraft. It is important for passengers to know that things are back to normal and that there’s no need to worry. Flights will run normally from now,” Suhas Jadhav, AI’s station manager at Pune airport, told TOI on Saturday.
On August 22, state-owned oil marketing firms had stopped the supply of aviation turbine fuel to AI at six airports – Pune, Ranchi, Visakhapatnam, Mohali, Patna and Kochi. Supply at two more airports, Raipur and Hyderabad, was briefly on the chopping block. Last week, AI officials had said the airline will have to suspend some flights at the affected airports if the crisis continued.
