AHMEDABAD: Country’s largest power producer, the National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) on Wednesday announced it commissioned the Kawas Solar PV project of 56 MW at NTPC Kawas near Hazira in Surat. With this, NTPC’s solar footprint was augmented to 68,454 MW of group installed and commercial capacity. The commissioning took place on Monday.
At present, some 2.3 GW of renewable capacity is commissioned and 3.9 GW is under implementation and execution. NTPC also has 4.9 GW of renewable energy capacity under the tendering process. The NTPC group aims to achieve 60 GW of total renewable energy capacity by 2032.
By installing renewable energy projects in its existing stations in addition to adding more greenfield renewable energy projects, NTPC is steadily lowering its carbon footprint by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
