The plan for extending the metro line from Sector 142 to Botanical Garden stations has been sent to local authorities for their nod, officials said on Thursday.
The plan would be discussed in the next board meeting of the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) after getting the in-principle approval from the Noida Authority and the Greater Noida Authority it would then be forwarded to the Uttar Pradesh government and the Centre for their approval, NMRC Managing Director Lokesh M said.
Project details
The plan has been prepared by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for NMRC, which runs the Aqua Line between Noida and Greater Noida. The plan proposes a new line between Sector 142 station on the Aqua Line of Noida Metro and the Botanical Garden station of Delhi Metro. Botanical Garden station is a junction station for the Blue Line and the Magenta Line of the Delhi Metro.
The new line would have a total length of 11.56 km and would cost Rs 2254.35 crore, according to the NMRC statement. The statement said that there would be eight new elevated stations on this line — Botanical Garden, Noida Sector 44, Noida Office, Sector 97, Sector 105, Sector 108, Sector 93, Panchsheel Balak Inter College and Sector 142 (already existing).
Benefits for commuters
This project will be advantageous to all the commuters travelling from Noida-Greater Noida to Delhi it will improve the connectivity of the residents of both Noida and Greater Noida and also link them to the Delhi Metro network. Botanical Garden will be an interchange station between NMRC’s Aqua Line and DMRC’s Magenta & Blue Line.
