Kolkata/New Delhi: A senior civil aviation ministry official on Thursday said no decision had “yet” been taken to run Kolkata airport on the public-private partnership model amid speculation over privatisation of the largest, most profitable airport run by Airports Authority of India.
Though Kolkata airport did not figure on the list of 26 that had earlier been identified for privatisation, unconfirmed reports of its inclusion prompted queries among both frequent flyers and airport officials.
Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport is the fifth busiest in the country. In 2022, it handled 1.5 crore passengers on 1.1 lakh domestic flights and 15.8 lakh international passengers on 15,140 flights.
