The National Highways Authority of India has received the health ministry’s approval to construct more than 60 of over 500 oxygen plants planned at various locations in the country.
NHAI is one of the organisations contracted by the Defence Research and Development Organisation to set up the plants, which are aimed at improving oxygen supplies to healthcare facilities as the second wave of Covid-19 ravages India. The plan to set up these plants was first announced two weeks ago. The plants are expected to address logistics issues faced in transporting medical oxygen to hospitals.
