Bengaluru: Driving on the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway will be an expensive affair henceforth as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which had suspended collection of revised toll rates citing the assembly elections, has now begun doing so again. As per the revised tariff, vehicles such as cars, jeeps and vans will have to pay Rs 165 on a one-way journey, up from Rs 135.
The NHAI, which had revised the tariff in March, had to put collection on hold following backlash from the public, aside from the polls. Even though there was no official notification on the collection of revised tariff from the authority, NHAI officials confirmed to TOI that the collection of revised tariff is on. “As polls are over and the new government is in place, we have begun collecting toll as per the revised tariff,” an engineer with NHAI clarified.
