KOLKATA: Metro Railway has set a December 2025 deadline for the commissioning of the Kolkata airport Metro station, Metro Railway general manager P Uday Kumar Reddy said on Tuesday after inspecting the 32km corridor’s alignment from New Garia to Kolkata airport.
The Orange line, as it’s called, will reach Metropolitan on EM Bypass in December this year, Sector V in June 2024 and City Centre II in December 2024, Reddy said. There is a change in plan for the ready-to-launch 5km Ruby stretch, Reddy said. Instead of the one-train-only-system, sans signal, it will be run by the electronic interlocking (EI) signalling, which should be ready by this December.
