Two new bridges – the Telghani railway overbridge and the Gogaon railway bridge – will help ease traffic congestion at these points in Raipur, Public Works Department Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu said on Friday.
Addressing a dedication ceremony, the Minister said the two bridges link one corner of the city to the other corner. They will help trade and business as well as commuters.
He said due to safety reasons, the movement of heavy vehicles has been banned on the old Telghani overbridge. Only two-wheelers and four-wheelers will be permitted.
The 526-metre Telghani overbridge will also connect 3 lakh people with platforms 6 and 7 of the Raipur railway station. The 407-metre and 7.5 metre wide Gogaon railway bridge has been built on the Urkura-Sarona bypass rail line.
