National Clean Energy Fund

India is moving ahead for cleaner energy sources for electricity generation. Rapidly growing demand in the country for energy coupled with high usage of coal-based power plants, has generated growing calls for innovative policies and instruments to promote renewable resources. This led the government to launch the National Action Plan for Climate Change (NAPCC) in 2008, and recently the NAPCC has set a target to increase the share of renewable-based power generation to 455 GW by 2050.
