Ahead of the inauguration of the Bengaluru Metro line from KR Puram to Whitefield by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has changed the names of six of the 12 stations in the stretch. According to the Metro officials, the names were changed so that the commuters can identify the stations with a local name.
The new boards at the stations were set up on March 21. The commercial operations of the new stretch will start on Sunday (March 26).
While KR Puram station’s name has been changed to Krishnarajapura, Whitefield station has been named Whitefield (Kadugodi). Mahadevapura has been renamed Singayyappanapalya and Hoodi Junction will now be called Hoodi.
