Bihar will get 1,120MW of power from the super thermal power project set up in Aurangabad district by the Nabinagar Power Generating Company (NPGC) by the end of this month.
NPGC’s chief executive officer Vijay Singh said the second unit of the plant will start commercial production of 660MW of electricity by the end of this month. “The synchronisation process and other technical formalities have been completed,” he said. NGPC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the country’s major power generating company NTPC Limited. A unit of 660 MW of NGPC’s super thermal power plant here is commercially functional since 2019. “About 85% of the power generated from this power project is allocated to Bihar, 10% to Uttar Pradesh, 4% to Jharkhand and 1% to Sikkim. In this way, Bihar gets 560 MW from a 660 MW unit,” Singh said.
As soon as the commercial production of the first unit started, Bihar started getting 560MW of electricity, which will now almost double. “The technical trial of the second unit of the project has been done and is now ready for commercial production. The total production will thus increase to 1320MW,” Singh said.
