New Delhi: North Delhi Municipal Corporation on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding with Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) for setting up of a compressed biogas plant and integrated CBG-CNG fuel station at three acres land in Ghogha dairy.
North corporation commissioner Sanjay Goel said that the civic body would provide the land for free for this project. “Of the total area (12,000 square metres), 11,000 sqm will be used for setting up a biogas plant and 1,000 sqm for an integrated CBG-CNG fuel station. The site has been inspected by IGL officials and found suitable for this project. As per project norms, the north corporation will provide segregated biodegradable waste (wet waste) to the plant as per Solid Waste Management Rules 2016 and IGL set up and operate the entire plant,” said the commissioner.
North corporation’s department of environment managements services director-in-chief Pradeep Bansal said that the expected production of various components generated after biomethanation of 100 tonnes per day of municipal solid waste comprise 4,000 kg per day of compressed biogas, 15 tonnes per day of city compost, 50 KL per day of wet slurry.
