In a move aimed at boosting the use of renewable energy, the Power Ministry on Saturday notified rules requiring that power supply from renewable energy (RE) plants not be curtailed over commercial concerns, after a number of states have sought to cut procurement from renewables or renegotiate power purchase agreements (PPAs).
Punjab, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh have sought to renegotiate PPAs with renewable power generating companies (gencos).
The Power Ministry also notified rules allowing timely pass through of increase in costs for gencos due to changes in law, such as changes in state or central taxes and in government regulations.
