MUMBAI: The peak power demand for Mumbai already crossed a record 4,000MW on June 1, said a senior Tata Power official who is part of the Power System Control Centre that digitally monitors real-time demand and supply of electricity across Mumbai.
The official further said that the day Mumbai’s power utility firms, such as BEST, Tata Power and Adani Electricity, announced record peak electricity demand of 3,971MW in the city on June 1, an additional 250MW was consumed in Bhandup-Mulund belt of MSEDCL – which also belongs to Greater Mumbai. However, state power firm MSEDCL’s load in Mumbai is considered part of the entire state peak demand. Besides, a part of this power was also shared by Kalyan and Ambernath whose power is wheeled through Mumbai, he stated.
