The proposed Transit Oriented Development (TOD) policy has continued to be in cold storage for the past few years. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), which is the nodal agency for executing over 300 kilometres of Metro network in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, had proposed the policy to the state government.
An MMRDA official, who did not wish to be named, said they aim to introduce the policy on a pilot basis on the Metro Line 7 passing through the Western Express Highway (WEH). He said, “The TOD will help commuters avoid unnecessary travel.”
