MUMBAI: All eyes will be on the 45th meeting of the Goods and Service Tax (GST) Council on Friday as Mumbai pricing experts are hoping that the price of petrol and diesel “drops drastically” and that fuel is brought under the ambit of GST.
Senior petrol dealer and pricing expert Kedar Chandak on Thursday said that the GST council will take a “final call” at the meeting presided by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
“They may or may not reduce the prices, but scores of consumers, transporters and petrol dealers will be keeping a close watch on the developments on Friday. Citizens have been badly hit with a series of fuel hikes, with petrol over Rs 107 per litre at city pumps and diesel above Rs 96,” he said.
