MUMBAI: In the second rate cut this year, amid a series of hikes, the price of CNG in MMR will drop by Rs 6/kg from Wednesday, bringing relief to over 8 lakh users, including those operating autos, taxis, BEST buses and aggregator cabs like Ola and Uber. The price of piped cooking gas will also reduce by Rs 4/unit, which will bring cheer to over 19 lakh households.
After the revision, the price of CNG will drop from Rs 86 to Rs 80 at fuel pumps while piped gas rate will dip from Rs 52.50 per unit to Rs 48.50 per unit.
“In the past 13 months, the cost of CNG rose by Rs36/kg till date, and the reduction of Rs 6 will benefit scores of auto and taxi drivers,” said Thampy Kurien from Mumbai Rickshawmen’s Union.
