The deadline for the completion of the Gopal Krishna Gokhale Bridge in Mumbai’s Andheri has been pushed to November, owing to a delay in the supply of raw materials by the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), said civic officials Wednesday.
The Gokhale Bridge will join Andheri East with Andheri West.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) shut down vehicular and pedestrian movement on the old Gokhale Bridge in November 2022 and demolished the earlier structure. The civic body had issued a work order for constructing this bridge in December last year and had set a May 2023 deadline for starting one arm of the bridge.
