The inaugural run of the Goa-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express will be flagged off from Madgaon railway station by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, PTI reported, citing officials. The Vande Bharat train on the Mumbai-Goa route will have eight coaches unlike the usual 16 coaches. The Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express will run six days a week except on Friday, the report said.
The semi high-speed Vande will reduce travel time between Mumbai and Goa by over an hour. Currently, Tejas Express takes 8 hours and 50 minutes to cover the same distance. But Vande Bharat fares are likely to be higher than Tejas’s.
