The inaugural run of the Goa-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express will be flagged off from Madgaon railway station by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, Press Trust of India reported, citing officials. The Vande Bharat train on the Mumbai-Goa route will have eight coaches unlike the usual 16 coaches. The Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express will run six days a week except on Friday, the report said.
The semi high-speed Vande will reduce travel time between Mumbai and Goa by over an hour. Currently, Tejas Express takes 8 hours and 50 minutes to cover the same distance. But Vande Bharat fares are likely to be higher than Tejas’s. AC chair car ticket for Mumbai-Goa on Tejas costs Rs 1,555 and executive chair car Rs 3,080, according to IRCTC website.
