Mumbai: The price of compressed natural gas (CNG) will drop by a rupee per kg from Tuesday. Also, price of cooking gas or piped natural fas (PNG) will dip by 70 paise.
The CNG rate will drop from around Rs 48.9 per kg to Rs 47.9 at city pumps. The price of PNG will drop to Rs. 28.90/unit (slab 1) and Rs 34.50/unit (slab 2) from Tuesday. It will benefit households using piped gas connection.
The drop in rates is due to reduction in price of domestically produced natural gas by the Centre, said an MGL official. “Even after the above revision, CNG offers attractive savings of about 60% and 39% as compared to petrol and diesel respectively at current prices in Mumbai,” the official said.
