The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has provided electricity connection to 1,70,263 agricultural pumps in the financial year 2022-’23, officials said.
According to MSEDCL chairman and managing director Vijay Singhal, “MSEDCL has achieved a double feat by providing the highest number of power connections to agricultural pumps in 10 years as well as reducing the number of pending connections to the lowest ever.”
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis who holds the energy portfolio had instructed MSEDCL to give priority to solving the farmers’ issue of paid pending — the delays even after making the requisite payment and completing formalities for electricity connection.
