NEW DELHI: The Commission for Air Quality Management in the national capital region and adjoining areas (CAQM) has directed discoms in Delhi-NCR to closely monitor the power supply situation with a special focus on areas prone to power outages. This is to help minimise air pollution arising out of large-scale use of diesel generator (DG) sets in the winter season.
During the meeting, the need to minimise air pollution due to the indiscriminate and large-scale use of DG sets across various sectors, including industrial, commercial, institutional and residential units, was reiterated.
“Discoms were apprised that any delay in power disconnection in respect of grossly violating units adds to the air pollution load of the region.
