Facing financial crunch, the Mohali Municipal Corporation has asked Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) to pay Rs27 crore collected by the Powercom from its consumers as municipal tax since 2017.
In a letter to the Managing Director, PSPCL, Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu said as per the Punjab Government notification dated November 22, 2017, a two per cent municipal tax was being charged on the electricity bills issued to the consumers.
