A mock drill for supplying start-up power from the Hasdeo Bango Hydroelectric Power Station (Korba) to re-operate the thermal power stations in the event of a sudden blackout was successfully done at the Chhattisgarh State Load Despatch Centre here.
The drill was done to ensure that in case of a blackout in an emergency, electricity could be delivered from hydroelectric power plants in 40 minutes to restart the power plants of Korba West, an official communication said on Saturday.
In a sudden blackout, it is difficult to restart the tripped thermal power plants. It requires immediate electricity supply which is possible through hydroelectric power plants based in the state.
