The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is set to obtain 15 hectares of land for the Metro 6 (Swami Samarth Nagar-Jogeshwari-Vikhroli-Kanjurmarg) depot. The state government has directed Mumbai’s Suburban Collector to hand over the Kanjurmarg plot for the depot construction, said officials privy with the matter.
By this week all formalities will be completed, said an official from the Mumbai Suburban Collector’s office.
The elevated Metro Line 6 is over 66 per cent complete, the official said. So, the MMRDA was in touch with the state government over the Kanjurmarg land, he added. Until the depot work is not completed, he underlined, the operation of the metro line cannot be initiated.
