Chennai: After several complaints from commuters about difficulty over finding a parking slot at several metro stations, Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has started identifying private land near stations to increase parking capacity.
Officials said they have identified a land parcel for lease near Thirumangalam metro station, which caters to high daily footfalls, to increase the existing parking space in the station. Work is underway to identify such empty plots near Airport and Meenambakkam metro stations. In addition, CMRL is also planning multilevel parking at a few stations.
