MUMBAI: Commuters on the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar (Metro 1) corridor were delayed and suffered overcrowding during the evening peak hour on Wednesday following a technical snag in one of the rakes at Asalpha station that led to a disruption in services for almost 45 minutes.
A total of six services were cancelled due to this incident that also led to overcrowding at en route stations. At some stations, passengers were asked to alight as services had come to a standstill.
Metro officials said the incident occurred after the electrical convertor unit developed a fault as an external wire was dropped by a bird on the over head electrical (OHE) wire.
