MUMBAI: The issue of a depot at Mogharpada for Metro lines 4 and 4A between Wadala and Thane is expected to be resolved. The urban development department will bring a proposal before the state cabinet to compensate the land owners.
Initially, MMRDA had planned a depot on an area measuring 41 hectares but subsequently reduced the demand to 35 hectares.
Over 100 acres ( 41 hectares) of class II government land at the village was required to construct the car shed which was opposed by 167 residents, who staked claim saying they were tilling the land for the last several decades and would be rendered without livelihood if it was acquired without compensating them.
