In a freak accident, a passenger onboard the Nilanchal Express from Delhi to Kanpur was killed after an iron rod broke through the glass window and pierced his neck.
The incident took place around 8.45 am Friday between Danwar and Somna in Aligarh, in the Prayagraj division of the North Central Railways. The passenger, Harikesh Dubey, died on the spot. After the incident, the train was stopped at the Aligarh junction at 9.23 am.
The rod had pierced through his neck and through the wall into the next compartment, narrowly avoiding further injuries to the passengers seated there.
