BENGALURU: The abrupt halting of the transformer-maintenance drive across Bengaluru that was taken up during the last few months of the previous government has raised concerns about the safety of residents and pedestrians.
Residents of Spencer Road in Pulikeshinagar limits had a close shave after a transformer blast last Friday. A 250 kVA transformer located in the middle of the residential-commercial locality in Pulikeshinagar (E1 subdivision) caught fire and burst into flames in less than a few minutes, leaving two vehicles and a part of the facade of an adjacent building gutted.
