MUMBAI: The solar rooftop installed capacity across Maharashtra has touched the 1,600 MW-mark with the number of MSEDCL consumers opting for the subsidy scheme crossing a lakh. It is a 60% growth in solar generation through rooftop panels in a year, which helped the state power utility bag six national awards in Goa last week.
Gujarat remains the leading state for rooftop solar, accounting for 24% of cumulative installations in India, followed by Maharashtra with 15% of total solar Photovoltaic (PV) installations across the country. Mumbai Metropolitan Region contributes nearly 7% to the state’s total solar rooftop installed capacity, an official said.
