MUMBAI: The Eknath Shinde-led government is expediting the project to generate 7,000MW solar power to provide daytime electricity to farmers. The cheaper power will also help reduce cross subsidy imposed on industries across state.
“Mukhya Mantri Shaur Krishi Vahini Yojana – 2.0 will attract investment of over Rs 30,000 crore for the solar scheme while also creating thousands of jobs in rural areas,” said MSEB holding company director Vishwas Pathak on Wednesday.
So far, 1,513MW power purchase agreements have been signed under the scheme being implemented by MSEDCL, of which 553MW solar power generation projects have been commissioned. “As many as 1 lakh farmers on 230 agricultural feeders are being supplied with power for pumps during daytime so far,” said Pathak.
