MUMBAI: Maharashtra holds the number one position in the country for highest number of electric cars, electric two-wheelers and e-buses compared to 22 other states and eight union territories, showed statistics provided by Climate Trends and Climate Dot on the newly released public dashboard this week.
An analysis of data also revealed that only six states were responsible for 60% of Electric Vehicle (EV) registrations in the country in 2023 – underlining the fact that a handful of states were driving the e-mobility growth.
When it came to e-car registrations, Maharashtra recorded the highest numbers (26,000), followed by Delhi and Karnataka (15,000 each). In the e-bike segment, however, the state was way ahead with 2.6 lakh registrations followed by Karnataka with 2.2 lakh e-bikes and Tamil Nadu with 1.5 lakh e-bikes, showed statistics.
