Congress’s Ludhiana MP Ravneet Singh Bittu Tuesday said that the upcoming Halwara international airport in Ludhiana district was a result of the efforts of the previous Congress government in Punjab which had left no stone unturned to make it a reality.
Bittu said it was then chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh (now in BJP) who had accepted his proposal and initiated the project to upgrade Halwara air force station into an international civil terminal. He further said that the project was further taken ahead by Dr Amar Singh, Congress MP from Fatehgarh Sahib who convinced local farmers to give their land for the project and ensured they were adequately compensated.
