MUMBAI: The cost of your 14.2kg domestic cooking gas cylinder has been hiked by Rs 50, taking it to Rs 1,102.50 from Wednesday.
The domestic cylinder rate had remained unchanged for the last seven months, but the oil marketing companies decided to make the increase from this month.
The issue of cylinder prices and electricity tariff, which too is set to be revised across the state by the month-end, was taken up aggressively by opposition parties. The legislators, led by opposition leaders Ajit Pawar from the NCP and Ambadas Danve from the Shiv Sena (UBT), blocked the steps to the Vidhan Bhavan with a massive protest, which included slogan shouting and raising of banners.
