Bengaluru: A three-km stretch of the much-hyped alternative road to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), commonly called the Airport Link Road or Hennur-Bagalur Road, is a motorist’s nightmare. Reason: The stretch extending from Hennur junction to Kothanur police station is riddled with 406 potholes and is barely motorable.
While 233 potholes and five large craters dot the carriageway leading to the airport, the stretch on return direction has 173 potholes and three huge craters. Some of the craters here are as big as five feet.
Rakesh Kumar, a working professional who often commutes on the road, said, “The road has been in this state for nearly a year now.
