BENGALURU: The world’s largest passenger airplane, Airbus A380, is expected to land in Bengaluru for the first time on October 30, as part of Emirates’ operations offering the super jumbo jet for direct flights from Dubai to Bengaluru and back.
It will be the first time the airplane will touch down in South India since it remained in operation in New Delhi and Mumbai from the inaugural flight in 2014.
The southern runway of Kempegowda International Airport is equipped to receive the super jet. “It is a huge aircraft with powerful engines and requires special arrangements on the ground in terms of distance to be maintained by ground personnel and vehicles on the tarmac from the plane,” a KIA official said.
Emirates sources confirmed that the A380 will land at Bengaluru airport after its scheduled takeoff from Dubai. In its official statement, the airline said its flagship A380 service will be introduced for the first time to Bengaluru to serve its customers on the busy route.
