Kerala government, on Monday, announced the sanctioning of Rs 378.57 crore for the construction of the second phase of the Kochi Metro Rail project. The funds will facilitate the construction of a new stretch- Pink Line, spanning 11.8 km from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to Kakkanad through Info Park.
Kochi Metro’s Pink Line
The second phase project was approved by the government in 2018, at an estimated cost of Rs 2,310 crore. The Pink line will have 11 stations. However, the Union Cabinet approved the detailed project report in September 2022, with an estimated cost of Rs 1,957.05 crore. The pink is expected to be operational by 2028.
