Kolkata: Ahead of the crucial ground frosting work for East-West Metro corridor in the Sealdah-Esplanade section, Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation (KMRC)—the implementing agency—has started work to shift the first of the underground utilities on Nirmal Chunder Street.
However, no traffic blockade will be required for the electricity cable shifting work. Officials said only a small portion of Lenin Sarani-Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road will be cordoned off to lay three 33 KV CESC cable lines. After relaying the cables, the functional ones underneath Nirmal Chunder Street will be deactivated.
TOI reported on Friday that KMRC has already started soil testing at Nirmal Chunder Street.
