CHENNAI: Bad roads in the city claimed the life of a 10-year-old girl on Monday when she came under the wheels of a speeding water tanker at Kovilambakkam. The child, Leora Sri, and her mother, Keerthi, lost balance on the bumpy road, one side of which had been barricaded by Metrorail, and fell from their two-wheeler. The woman fell to the left and landed safely, but the child came under the rear wheels of a water tanker.
They were on their way, around 8.45am, to a private school at Madipakkam, where Leora Sri is a Class V student, and Keerthi a teacher. Leora Sri’s father works in Germany.
